Happy Bosniaks' Day
On September 28, 1993, under conditions of war, siege by Serbian forces, and continuous bombardments in Sarajevo, the Bosniak Assembly made the historic decision to restore the national name "Bošnjak" and the designation "bosanski jezik" for the language of the Bosniak people. Therefore, this date holds special significance for the national identity, language, and culture of Bosniaks. Today, on Bosniaks' Day, we remember this important event in the history of this friendly people and honor the contribution of the Bosniak community in our Republic, as an inseparable part of the history, society, and future of Kosovo. Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo share a painful history of facing violent policies, war crimes, crimes against humanity, ethnic cleansing, and genocide by Serbia and the regime of Slobodan Milošević during the 1990s, as well as in ongoing efforts for justice, in the face of the denial of war crimes and genocide, and the protection and glorification of criminals by the state of Serbia. Political representatives of the Bosniak community are part of the institutions of our Republic and contribute to the decision-making and development of our country. As a Government, we highly value and express our gratitude for the cooperation and contribution of the Bosniak community to the development of Kosovo, our shared country.
