Rašić and British Ambassador Jonathan Hargreaves discuss the advancement of the position of non-majority communities and support for returnees

The Minister for Communities and Return, Nenad Rašić, met with the British Ambassador to Kosovo, Jonathan Hargreaves, to discuss the advancement of the rights of non-majority communities, institutional challenges in the diploma verification process, and opportunities for more efficient support for displaced persons wishing to return to Kosovo.

The focus of the meeting was the implementation of the Strategy for the Protection of the Rights of Communities and Their Members, as one of the important mechanisms for improving their position. They also discussed problems in the work of the diploma verification commission, as well as the need to overcome existing obstacles in order to make this process more efficient and in the interest of members of non-majority communities.

Minister Rašić emphasized that achieving concrete results requires the continuous engagement of institutions, with the support of international partners. He particularly highlighted the importance of the economic empowerment of communities through the creation of employment opportunities, support for entrepreneurial initiatives, and the development of sustainable sources of income, which contribute to increased economic security and an improved quality of life.

A special topic of discussion was support for displaced persons wishing to return to Kosovo.

The meeting served as an opportunity to exchange views on further steps in strengthening the protection of community rights and advancing cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

The Ministry for Communities and Return will continue working on the implementation of its priorities, aiming to create better living conditions for non-majority communities and ensure the conditions for a safe and sustainable return of displaced persons.
